City vs Country (CVC) 2025 – C GRADE UPDATE
Wow, what a weekend it was for the newly formed C Grade representative team!
After a shaky start Friday the guys were keen to get into the weekend. Contributions from all players saw us get up 9-6 over a solid Gold Coast team Saturday morning then they backed it up with a 10-6 win over Ipswich next game that afternoon. With 3 first time CvC representatives in our team of 5, everyone got in and did their bit refereeing and cheering on the team.
Sunday morning saw a very narrow 7-8 defeat to Hinterland with all players putting on frames. Come that afternoon the guys were fired up winning 7 of the last 9 frames to take down Darling Downs. Big thanks to Rob Toia as referee, allowing the guys to all get in and cheer each other on as a team.
Last match Monday morning was a 10-5 win over Kilcoy to wrap up the weekend finishing equal 7th on points overall.
Manager Roy Knight said “All players were keen to learn more as we progressed through the rounds and there were many takeaways from the weekend. I know we all learnt something from the 4 days at Ipswich. Thanks to the whole team for keeping each other’s spirits up. Extra thanks to Matt Rowe for stepping into the Captain’s role, and Adam Hegyes for assisting over the entire weekend. Everyone should be proud of how they played and the respect they showed to the other teams”!
Thankyou also goes to Roy for taking on the role of guiding this newly formed team through their first CVC together. May it be the first of many for all of you!

City vs Country (CVC) 2025 – WOMEN’s UPDATE
Wow, what a weekend!!!! The CVC was held at Ipswich from 2-5 May and the City team won their way to 4th out of 11 competing Associations.
Aliesha Anderson was the captain of the Women’s team, consisting of Aliesha Anderson, Debbie Kilvington, Jo Hein, Matilda Greene and Trish Veivers.
Captain Aliesha said “I’m so proud of this Team. We had a rough start sitting in 9th place after day 2, we dug deep and the spirit and determination of the team was second to none. We got through to the semi-final against Sunny Coast (No. 1 on the ladder plays No. 4 on the ladder in the semi) and in my eyes, we were winners. My Team played their hearts out and I couldn’t be more proud. Well done Ladies!!! As always, thank you to George Tolley (Team Manager) who constantly supports us and takes the pressure off us, and stepped up to referee nearly all of the games – Wow! You’re an absolute gem George – thankyou! A big thank you also to the amazing Warren Veivers who was our number 1 supporter and who supported us all the entire weekend – thankyou!”
And from the team, “Thank you to our fearless, supportive, encouraging, motivating and all in champion, thank you Aliesha for all you did – you too are an absolute gem and we value you so much 🥰 xxx”.
Thankyou girls for representing City 8-Ball Association in the 2025 CVC. Great effort all round – you made City proud!
Here’s some snaps from the busy weekend.
Oh and… are you a City player who would love to represent City in 2026? If you do, look out for the Div 1, 2, 3 and Women’s trials that will be held early in the year. GOOOOO CITY!!! Woop Woop!!

🥳🥳🥳THE City 8-Ball Association “BIG DAY OUT” 2025 🥳🥳🥳
Once a year the City 8-Ball Assoc “City vs Country (CVC)” try-outs are held to find the top performers in each Division to represent City 8-Ball at the Southern QLD CVC. Then, soon after, the Division 2, Division 3 and Women’s teams get together to have a session to “get in the groove” for the impending Southern QLD CVC Championships!
It’s a FUN day, with the teams playing against each other to build team mateship, talk about the upcoming competition, and to “get the edge”!
This is also the event where the City 8-Ball Annual shirt is unveiled and given to each of the CVC representatives – what an honour!
And what a FABULOUS City shirt design again this year (which will be revealed at the CVC comp🫣!) – great job once again to City’s very own talented graphic designer Vice President Glenn Lynch! We will let you know when our next “print run” is if you too would like to be a proud City Player with a City shirt – more info to come later in the year.
And thanks to President Jazz and Treasurer Brad for coordinating the day. And to Stuart and the Gaythorne Bowls Club for being the host for the day.
Some matches will be streamed via the SQEBF facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SQEBF so like the page and check out some exciting games!! And you never know… it could be you playing there next year!
The CVC is being held this weekend 2-5 May so…. GO CITY!!!
