CITY ARE 2026 QLD CUP MEN’S CHAMPIONS!
What an effort from our City Men’s team at this year’s Q Cup.
Duain Bauer C, Alex Wright, Darryn Schafferius, Shaun Jepson, Sebastian Chen, Nick Mcintosh and Shayne McCulloch
After a fantastic round-robin campaign, City finished 2nd overall, with 9 wins, 4 draws and just 1 loss.
But the real test was still to come. What followed was three finals matches that could hardly have been closer — all three decided by shootouts.
The Qualifying Final, City faced Brisbane and came through 9–7.
The Preliminary Final against Darling Downs, The match locked up, it came down to the shootout. City dropped the first two of five frames and needed to win all final three frames for the match.
The boys did exactly that.
Three frames.
Three wins.
One place in the Grand Final.
That was an ENORMOUS effort, and a huge display of heart from the team.
Then it was back to Brisbane for the Grand Final.
Once again, the match went to 6-6 and once again it was a shootout that would decide the Q Cup.
City held their nerve and came away with a 9–6 victory.
Three finals.
Three shootouts.
Three times City found a way to get it done.
We couldn’t be prouder.
There were some outstanding individual performances throughout the tournament, but this was ultimately a team achievement. Everyone who stepped up to the table contributed to getting City through a long round-robin campaign and then three incredibly tight finals.
Congratulations to our City Men’s team — 2026 QLD Cup Champions!

🏆 QLD CUP 2026 – WOMEN’S WRAP-UP 🏆
What a weekend of women’s pool! 🎱❤️
The City8Ball Women’s Team stepped up and represented with pride! Aliesha Anderson (Captain), Trish Veivers, Jo Hein and Michelle Kelso Smith.
What a tournament! The women finished Day 1 on top of the table, full of fun, determination and great team spirit heading into Day 2.
Day 2 unfortunately saw the team finish in 5th place, putting them into a knockout final against Ipswich. Ipswich came ready to play and, unfortunately, our City Women couldn’t progress any further. But what a weekend it was! 💪❤️
Words from our Captain, Aliesha:
“Just an incredible weekend with a great bunch of women. We laughed, we danced, we cried, we laughed and danced some more, and ate lots of lollies lol.
It is always an honour for me to lead and captain the City Women’s teams. Every one of these women should be so proud of themselves.
Trish, playing in the State position, what an effort! She held her composure, had stamina in all her frames and never gave up. She pulled off some bloody amazing outs. Wonderful effort! 👏
Jo, just outstanding. I’m so amazed to see how much you love this game, and your hard work and table time really shows. You put so much love into your pool. It’s outstanding. Well done! ❤️
Michelle, I’ve played in so many teams with you, and it’s just incredible to still see to this day the nerves and love you show. Well done, mate. You played some great tactical games and shots. 🎱
To our Manager, George Tolley, what can I say? Year in, year out, just wow. You take the pressure off us with your confident reffing, and you support and inspire us to drive for that win. Thank you, George! 👏
To our number one supporter, Warren, thank you! You’re a gem. Shouting out our names and cheering us on never went unnoticed. Thank you so much! ❤️
And myself, I’m so proud to walk away from this tournament with 16 teams competing and 32 women in the State A position, winning 23 out of 30 frames in some fierce competition and winning player of the carnival.
Well done to everyone. ❤️
Aliesha ☺️”
A massive congratulations to Aliesha, Trish, Jo and Michelle on an incredible weekend representing City8Ball. You should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved. 🥰🎱
Thank you to everyone who supported, cheered, managed and encouraged our women throughout the tournament.
What a team. What a weekend. What a sport. ❤️🎱
